Volume I, Issue 21
October 27 - November 3, 1997
ow! I'm astounded! Speechless! Dumbfounded! My mouth's agape!
My jaw's on my sternum! My eyes are poppin'! My heart's afire!
My whole body is paralyzed in fascination! Exultation! Jubilation!
I ... have ... just ... seen ... the ... new ... Film Vault.
Deep breath -- ahhh -- allow me to relax for a moment. OK.
My comrades at Weekly Wire have really done it this time.
They've created a site that is actually helpful for Film Bums
like me. I can't tell you how many times I've gone to the video
store's "new release" section, only to be rendered a
drooling idiot by the all the titles I've never heard of. Duh,
which ones are good? How can I find out? I don't want to risk
renting a bad one. Film Vault solves that problem. All I have
to do is look up all the recent movies and locate a couple I might
like that have positive reviews. Everything from big releases
to 100% obscure stuff is included -- and the smart links connect
me to other, older flicks I might enjoy too. I love the Film Vault!
It's a godsend!
Okay, let me just settle down again. I'd better change subjects
lest I become hysterical. Godsend, godsend, hmm... oh yeah, let's
talk about that new David Duchovny movie, "Playing God."
I haven't seen it, but I'm really confused by these reviews. I
mean, this one says it's a bomb, another says it's THE bomb. I
decided to get a third opinion, and ended up believing this reviewer,
who seemed to have a good, calm, sober-as-a-surgeon head on his
shoulders. Unlike Duchovny's character. Or myself.
Or this writer. She's all, like, addicted to "The Real World."
She even interviewed one of its cast members. Which is great if
you're a "Real World" addict, but I'm totally not even
close. Totally. I'd rather watch old monster movies, or films
full of hookers, or hell, even a Joe Eszterhas thing. Or go to
the Film Vault. Woo hoo!
