LETTER FROM THE EDITOR:
ometimes in Weekly Wire, you hit a mutha'lode of a section.
This week, the Music section is jammed--and jammed with a damn
rich variety of articles. Here are just a few of them.
Billy Joe Shaver's been a Country music icon for a long long
time. He's had songs covered by Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, The
Allman Bros., Johnny Cash to name a few. Now he's teamed up with
his son, Eddy, in the band Shaver. Their new album, "Victory"
is here. Read about Billy Joe and new music in this special mini-section.
Jan Garelick of the Boston Phoenix writes of the seemingly
odd teaming of Dr. John and....a bunch of british musicians on
the New Orleans master's new recording, "Anutha Zone."
Garelick talks to the good Doctor about the making of the record.
This is one record we'll be checking out for sure.
You'll find more too--check out pieces on the new solo piano
Columbia CD releases of Thelonius Monk, Liz Phair's "Whitechocolatespaceegg,"
Brian Wilson, BB King, Richard Buckner...we could go on and on
here...
