JULY 28, 1997:
Needless to say, the secrecy surrounding the new X-Files
feature film has been downright governmental. Everybody's been
shaking me down for info, though, so I'll do my "Deep Throat"
imitation and spill what little I know. Right now the film is
called X-Files: Blackwood. No word on what exactly "Blackwood"
is supposed to be. It may just be a code word for the production.
Don't be too surprised if the final title turns out to be something
different. All the cast members seem to be on board, including
the Lone Gunmen and the Cigarette-Smoking Man. David Duchovney
and Gillian Anderson both received a reported $4 mil each for
their lead roles. In other casting news, Martin Landau has been
given a leading role, but there's no word on who his character
is supposed to be. Shooting began last week at a British Columbia
ski resort (apparently subbing for an Alaskan glacier). The rest
of the shooting will most likely take place in L.A. Absolutely
zero word about the actual plot has escaped. All I know for sure
is that the movie will be a conclusion to next season's
cliffhanger finale. In the meantime, I'll keep searching for info.
The truth is out there. ... Apparently those reports of an "amicable"
break-up between Brad Pitt and Gwyneth Paltrow were a bunch of
hooey. Paltrow's pop has ditched plans for his film Duet.
The romantic comedy was set to star Pitt and Paltrow, even after
their split. Not any more.
