LETTER FROM THE EDITOR:
hristine Fugate's new documentary on two years in the life of rising porn star Stacy Valentine follows the buxom blonde's transition from suburban Tulsa housewife to supervixen. "The Girl Next Door" isn't much more than an extended TV profile, though it is a compelling view of life in the porn biz.
"Chicken Run" is absolutely delightful filmmaking, full of gorgeously goofy animation that is a wonder to behold and a well-wrought comedic storyline that sustains the picture as a whole.
"The Patriot" is a robust, powerful melodrama that blooms under Mel Gibson's accustomed tortured presence. But off-screen, Gibson is calming down, playing golf, going places, seeing things.
Also, "Me, Myself and Irene," the new collaboration from the Farrelly brothers and Jim Carrey, Disney's updated Fantasia 2000, and more.
