H appy New Year!

Now that we've left 1999 on the dustheap of history, we can take a look back at some of the year's highlights and lowlights, as seen from the perspective of the Boston Phoenix.

With fizzled impeachment hearings, Elizabeth Dole, and "The Phantom Menace," 1999 was a year when Big Deals turned out to be not so big after all.

Without a single vote having been cast, the field of candidates for the presidential elections this fall has already been narrowed to four safe, mainstream candidates.

Also, a post mortem on the WTO meeting last month, Bush's choreographed candidacy, and more.
