George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer are two overworked single
parents in NYC who, in Hollywood terms, "meet cute."
They both miss their respective childrens' school field trip and
spend the rest of the day trading off babysitting services, cell
phones and assorted jibes. Naturally, they hate each other, and
just as naturally, they fall madly in love by day's end. This
energetic romantic comedy works just about every cliché
in the book, but the stars are both quite comfortable on screen,
and the mood is often infectious. Clooney and Pfieffer both get
to display some genuine emotion, and Clooney is quite disarming
as the happy-go-lucky womanizer (typecasting?).
